The default Maemo browser, MicroB, duals it out with Android's browser.

Maemo - Diablo Version 5.2008.43-7 (its wrong in the video)
Android - Using NITDroid(2.6.28-rc8-omap 2008Dec16)

Both operating systems used default settings, and were both fresh flashes. Flash 9 was disabled in MicroB to give it a fair trial.

This instant startup of Android Browser is because its always in the background, until another active app wants more resources. It takes about 4 seconds to launch a new window.

Also, Android has a tab system similar to Fennec. MicroB opens new windows.

  • After using the Webkit engine for Maemo, there is not that much advantage with Android browser.

  • nice!

  • great video, very interesting.

if the android browser is always running, does that kill battery life?

how does battery life compare running android to maemo?

tabbed browsing is definitely better in use, does it use less cpu resources?

does android have a word processing suite yet?

does android work with google gears? i would think it would as android is google's os.

    have you tried mer?

please post more maemo/android comparison videos.

  • Is it only me that finds the android browser actually slower (in using) and jerkier?

Also, I'd like to know how the two browsers compare with multiple open windows (let's say 5 different heavy pages) etc. Is flash OK with android? How they compare with javascript?

  • c'mon

android browser is kinetic but very jerky!

  • nice video ! androids browser sure looks nice ,although im quite worried if the installing is safe (many similar crashed and bricked) so id still depend on micro b ,since its got good features

but i sure whant that android browser too ,wonder if there would come only the browser download... hope it doesnt take much ram (n810 should have atleast 500mb of ram ,current is not enough )

  • nice comparison, I haven't yet put Android on my N810. I want to wait till its noob proof.

  • Next time, maybe you can turn off the autofocus. :)
