This as is ridiculous, global warming, however, is not. CO2 is indeed the thing that plants breath, but once more CO2 is produced than the plants can handle it stays in the atmosphere. Now, when solar energy hits Earth most of it is reflected. If there was no atmosphere, that energy (and heat) would just go out into space. Greenhouse gases like CO2 stop some of the energy from going back into space, reflecting it back at the Earth. So, the atmosphere is like a blanket and adding CO2 thickens it.
