  • i'm confused... this same variation by Nunez is done in another video with Thiago Soares but it is named Le Corsaire ... this one is La Bayadera... can anyone clear this up for me pleas? :)

  • here came the goddess....

  • Wow! They're both great, but Marianela's 5 pirouettes were so nice and floaty.

  • @dmb4341 Your confusion is understandable. This variation, to this music, is rightly placed in this ballet. The Russians on the on other hand, while claiming to be the guardians and purveyors of the true Russian classical ballet tradition, are the most licentious in interchanging the heaps and heaps of Petipa-Minkus variations that must be just lying around all over the place in Moscow and St Petersburg. They interchange variations and music with impunity.

  • @nevroth some dancers just like to switch it...although i think they only change the variation when they are doing galas and stick with the original ones when they dance full length ballets....not sure when they started changing them but it seems to be done very often now...the one she dances here is the 'official' gazmatti variation from bayadere

  • @dmb4341 - There are two different ballet this one in La bayadere and the variation is not like Le corsaire, maybe it look like.... Try on you tube the other one you will see the difference. Sorry for my english, i'm italian!

  • OMG , what does her Nykia look like ???????

  • I'm also very confused by it. But my research deems it to be definitely from La Bayadere - Gamzatti's variation. The gist of what kabaii was saying is that many ballerinas use this variation in Le Corsaire, but with the same choregraphy down to the pique soutenus. A shame because it's used already in another variation in Le Corsaire. At least that's what I took from it :3

  • spectacular gamzatti

  • this has got to be Marianela's best role!!
