Found my cat Lokki hanging from this toy tonight.
He was playing with it, batting at it and his claw got caught and he couldn't sit down let alone escape without help.

I cut the bell off the toy, then wedged off the bell, breaking the end of the nail before getting it off. He seems fine now.

CUT BELLS OFF OF CAT TOYS!

Especially ones they tend to bat/cuff at.

I shudder to think what would of happened if no one had been home.

  • dont get toys for cats this is wrong they are not humans

  • @CreepingMetalDeath

They're toys made for cats. It's called enrichment. Cats in the wild spend their time hunting for food. When they live indoors all their food is provided for them so without some kind of enrichment/play they'd sleep and eat and grow fat and be bored out of their minds. They've shown what a lack of enrichment does to animals in a zoo, repetitive pacing etc they develop mental problems because of a lack of stimulation. Toys are important for a cats well being.

  • i have 2 kittens and im gonna jus cut their nails off lol, cuz its for my own and their own good, kittens living in our modern flats usually get into trouble bcuz of their nails.... hope ur kitten is okay lah, hehe

  • Are you talking about declawing?

That's not what I am trying to encourage with this video. Cats are like babies, you just have to remeber to put their toys away when you aren't watching them and safeguard where possible.

Look at your hand. Having a cat declawed is like cutting off the end of your own fingers up to the first knuckle. It is very painful and traumatic to the cat. It is even banned in places unless for medical reasons.

Regular trimming is far less cruel and better for your cat.

  • @niwashi5 Thanks. Surprisingly I get more spam, harassment and trolls on this site than any other. People choose to watch my vids, I don't know why they feel the need to post like that if they don't like them instead of hitting back and moving on.

  • @niwashi5 you're welcome. I hadn't really thought bells on a cat toy could be dangerous until this happened.

  • Thanks for the PSA. This changed her personality. She couldn't socialize with people or animals. She wanted to sit on laps and be petted, but the pinched nerve gave her sharp pain, then she got angry, unable to comprehend why petting caused pain. It was torture for her and no fun for us.

  • ??? sorry have no idea what you just said

  • thankfully he's ok :)

  • Thank you.

At least it's not just me saying it. Some people just seem to think cats just get into things so no worries, but really you gotta do the same thing one does with babies, make things as safe guarded as possible BECAUSE they get into things. Which is why no one suspected the innocent looking toy.

Thankfully it was spotted right off but I hate to think what might of happened.

    Thanks for the comment!
