Face veil protesters detained as French ban begins

France's ban on full face veils, a first in Europe, has been marked by anger and arrests at one of the leading landmarks in Paris.




Several people were detained at what was meant to be a silent protest outside Notre Dame Cathedral, with feelings running high.




"It is an attack on my freedom of conscience, my freedom of religion, my freedom to be a woman," said activist Kenza Drider, wearing a face veil.

@CH1CKENQUIFF It is a fact that 51 gay people were indeed hung in public in Iran. I never said "every" Islamic person anything. I am stating the fact that this sort of government by religion is evil. Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews and declared war on America. Just Like Islam.

I feel that your comment stems from pure ignorance. They say ignorance is bliss but I am realistic. I know for sure that not all... if not most are not hateful and spiteful, what you would suggest. I suggest taking your head out of your arse and looking at the real issue. It would seem th non-islam would have the big problem. Majority of Islamic people want to live in peace... of course anyone would be angry of someone tried to piss on their fire.

That is not fact. There is no evidence to suggest that EVERY Islamic person is evil. If 51 gay people got hung, it doesnt mean that everyone would condone it. I agree hanging people just becuase they desire the same sex is pure hate but making a statement saying that all islam is evil just becuase of the act of the minority is pure ignorance

@Boromir26 Actually I am of palestinian decent, born and raised in the United Arab Emirates. To sum it all up: to each his own. What I was talking about in my previous post was what the hijab means for a muslim woman, its actual purpose and not what people have turned it into. I am in no position to judge anyone on what they do or believe and neither should anyone else. I am merely stating the solid facts of the hijab in Islam, regardless of what others may have misinterpreted out of it.

I find devout muslims more intelectually limited than all the world's ADD' ppl put together!! Seriously brainwashed, very likely to errupt in violence and very hateful and spiteful people! non devout mulims are great ppl but these fundamentalists are the worst type of loonies out there!! you can't have any sort of conversation with them on any topic besides their own religion, first because they have no idea second because they instantly mark it as unworthy! and I speak from experience here!
