  • the mat slapping also has the effect of 'integrating the body' so that uke is able to return to their feet in one continuous motion. (Irie Sensei from Hombu explained this point).

  • excuse me - more clear - Uke should fall from the hand of Tori - as the soft rain of spring are touching the eath.

  • @sorenz08

Only in practice and demonstration- there would be no more practice if Nage/Torie did not allow uke to be released-

and i agree, "slapping" concrete would not be wise~

  • @chukerthe1 - more clear "slapping" the hand came from Judo "Trowing" uke and is only done on a soft mat in a dojo - not on concrete and solid ground. The Nage in Aikido are "helping Uke to fall" - that is " giving him the freedom to redraw". When I see Uke are acting submissive to Torie - he is preforming a show - a choreography - that is not Budo.

  • @chukerThe1 - what is the sound of one hand clapping -

  • @imuniverse2012

im not too sure you know aikido~

  • @sorenz08

the movements are about being connected- and its not uke thats doing the movements, its what Endo Sensei is doing to Uke that is causing them to move that way. Endo Sensei is keeping the connection with Uke alive. The sound is simply uke slapping out as he hits the mat, it helps to dissapate the energy so they do not get hurt-

  • I do not understand the movements of Uke - and the noise when they fall

  • Osensei didn'n do like that. that's all. He dosen' t know Aikido!

  • Awesome video!
