In fact it is Yepes who singlehandedly made this a famous concerto during the early years when he alone performed this work with orchestras all over the world. He did not make the first recording of it, but indeed the first that was an international best seller. His interpretation is the definitive Aranjuez, particularly in the shades of color no one but he brings out in the Adagio.
