Never heard of "kris kringle" here in germany. Jus can say that we have two holiday in december celebrating the same person (yeah I kow it's originally jesus, but common..). Nikolaus on 5th and Chrismas o 24th. Nikolaus (sounds a bit like santa claus) was a real life person and is the real role model for your santa (In germany called Weihnachtsmann-chrismasman)
