Stan Kenton - Cuban Fire

This is the title track from the Cuban Fire Suite, an album that is perhaps Kenton�s masterpiece. Stan was determined to record a suite that would combine a big band jazz approach with authentic Cuban rhythms and song forms, and he commissioned Johnny Richards to compose the music

Je connais et apprécie Stanley Newcomb Kenton depuis ma plus tendre jeunesse et, en tant que jazzman, cet arrangeur-chef d'orchestre m'a beaucoup influencé dans mes orchestrations. En dehors des albums qu'il a consacrés à ses arrangeurs, Holman, Russo, Rugolo et autres, il a consacré Cuban Fire à Johnny Richards et c'est une parfaite réussite dont la parution en CD est un bonnheur pour tous les arrangeurs et compositeurs de jazz.
