low-tech planted tank. No C02 supplementation, no fertilization and low light(0.33W/liter). Setup is about 9 months old and still going strong. I've used potting soil and cat litter as the substrate. The plants are Sagittaria subulata, Heteranthera zosterifolia, Rotala rotundifolia, Hygrophila difformis. It's actually a very low budget setup and very much rewarding, regarding the circumstances.

  • i can see the co2 mechanics in the corner...

  • @froggybrib I'm sure you also have imaginary friends and can see dead people. The things you can see on the corner are the canister filter stuff and an overflow system which is not in use.

  • is it hard to get live plaints and make them grow? i just 1 24 in. florissent bulb . im lookin to get some live plaints what do i need to do, as far as fertalization? if any

  • @cccspizza there are some plants which can live with minimal conditions. Look for slow growing species like anubias, java fern or fast growing foxtail and plants like that.

  • Hey the... Thanks for the beautiful video.. Would be nice if u can please let me know what kind of lights u'r using.. (I mean the wattage, and brand and type I.e is it cfl or fluorescent or HO) I have a 10 gallon I've been trying to aquascape, last 5 attempts resulted in algae bloom.... Please suggest some good lighting...!!! Share ur knowledge.. It only grows to share... Peace:)

  • @e17jack get some algae eaters

  • Are you using cat litter now?

  • @egementt Great tank. I have a problem though.

I have a 180 litre tank with no C02, no ferts, no soil substrate (just gravel), decent lighting and my plants are thriving. In fact they've grown and spread out so much that that if I leave the tank for two months the whole place is covered with plants and this causes a massive bloom of thread algae. Now I like it when the plants are everywhere but not the thread algae.

Question: Did you ever have this problem and what do I do about it?

  • @egementt it looks green? no it is green..
