The tiger is on the edge of extinction. A hundred years ago there were perhaps as many as 100,000 tigers in the wild. Now, only about 4,000 survive.

The tiger is under threat for many reasons from poaching to the destruction of its habitat and the loss of its prey.

WWF is working with local communities and governments to conserve the tigers natural habitat and put an end to poaching. In the past 40 years, weve had many successes. Take our programme to preserve the Amur (or Siberian) tigers in the Russian Far East. There were only around 40 left in the wild. Now, thanks to WWFs work, they number about 500.

There is still much more to do. But you can make a real difference.

Adopting an animal doesn't mean you take it home! You just give money to the wwf to help protect it duh. Anyway its a really worthwhile cause and it's such a cute animal anyway it should be protected.
