New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Department of Transportation are on a mission to make the Big Apple the "greatest, greenest big city in the world" by ramping up bicycle infrastructure across the city, introducing bus rapid transit to the Bronx, and pedestrianizing Times Square, among other bold transportation initiatives.

Toronto city council needs to watch this video. We are actually moving backwards with these issues. Reducing bike lanes and sidewalks for more car space.

Probably the best video ever made on pedestrianization of urban space. Makes me want to live in New York - and I don't like big cities! When half of Manhattan becomes carfree then a new day will dawn.

I like how the NYC video begins with happy music, and images of blue skies and happy people enjoying happy urban spaces, compared with the LA video, which features somber music and images of chocked auto traffic underneath gray, hazy skies.
