Nikisch is a legend! Thank You. Perfect piece and performance.

1914 !

May be the earliest record of this overture...also one of the best , can impress the art of Nikisch.

Nikisch gets some remarkably fine shades of dynamics in these 1912 recordings; no nonsense about scaling up the pianissimi because the recording process cannot catch them! Interesting, too, to hear Adolf Borsdorf, the LSO's German-born principal horn (& a co-founder of the orchestra) playing what is obviously a French or Belgian piston-valve horn, rather than the wider-bore German type.

Maravilloso documento musical, la calidad de la grabación es notable si consideramos su época, se oye todo claramente en esta hermosa obertura.
Wonderful musical document, the quality of the recording is remarkable if we considered its time, hears everything clearly in this beautiful overture.

Yes, I agreed.
Thank you very much for uploading this exciting and wonderful performance. I had never heard this before and it is Nikisch at his recorded best.

Happy you liked it. His Beethoven 5th is supreme also, which you uploaded. Thanks to that great upload.
