the gurus started the war by opposing a state..they were dissidents and did acts of treason.. any country with any religion would has severe punishments in place for treason..the sikhs wanted a state within a state and the authorities realised that, thats why they got what happend so quite frankly they wernt oppressed coz of religion as there were hindus and ovas working for the mughuls.

Guru Gobind Singh also stated in Dasam Granth that God sent Prophet Muhammad pbuh to this world but he started a panth of himself the followers of which today commit circumcision. Guru Sahib shun the followers of islam for following practices like circumcision etc. even Guru Nanak described circumcision as useless practice and stated that if it would have been usefull in any sense it would have been done by birth.
