www.LarryGraham.com is now available,

This is a television appearance of Larry Graham in the early 1980s, with the ever- funky Tony Maiden on guitar and Noel "Drew" "Trap" Closson on drums. (Actually I've given Drew the nickname Trap because he plays TIGHT!!!)Filmed in Larry's studio at his Oakland hillside home, when he resided in the Bay area. IF THOSE WALLS COULD ONLY TALK!!!

For those unaware, Larry Graham started this style of bass playing while playing with his mother, Dell Graham, in the Bay Area. That's right, he's the original bass thumper!!

On this video and when touring (1980s) the red bass is made by G&L (Leo Fender--for those young folk, Leo started Fender musical instruments and MusicMan basses and Guitars). One thing for sure though, it's not the bass, it's the performer/musician. After this bass, Larry played a custom "all" white Fender Jazz bass named Sunshine. Sunshine was Graham's silver sparkle bass with matching headstock that so many have tried to replicate.

In the early 90's he starting playing the Larry Graham model from Moon Basses, which were all cream colored, named Moonshine. His bass rig for quite some time now has been the British tube amps & speakers by the name of Hughes & Kettner.

Both Tony on guitar and Noel on drums toured with Larry at during the time this video was made. In fact, during the live performances, Tony even played this same red G&L bass on ballads with Larry singing hits such as One in a Million, Just Be My Lady, and When We Get Married. It was quite a performance, as usual.

  • Is that an early G&L L-2000 bass that Larry has?

  • @RadioMasterDude Yep, early G&L by Leo Fender. Used to tour with it back in the very, very early 80s.

  • If you attended his concert April 2, 2010, show some love and let us know how slamming the show was!!!!!
