Bernard Bochner, a surgical oncologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center who specializes in bladder cancer, describes an operation called neobladder urinary diversion. In this procedure, doctors reconstruct the bladder after bladder cancer surgery, making it possible for patients to urinate normally. Memorial Sloan-Kettering performs more than 100 bladder reconstruction procedures each year.
