BSGcast LIVE: 4.21 - "Daybreak Part 1"

We were in Austin for South by Southwest and got to watch Part 1 of Daybreak at the Alamo Drafthouse! We managed to shoot in the lobby of the Hilton across from SXSW and got some great theories from fans like us after this doozy of an episode! Esoteric and tense, Daybreak Part 2 is shaping up to be one hell of knock-down drag-out battle from front to back!

Angel Baltar and Angel Six walking down the street arguing about whether this will all happen again. Which one of them is the joker and which one is the thief? I like the fact that they tell us "God" doesn't like being called that.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but the soundtrack with the final battle scene was just so good! AWESOME. The music with the images fit so perfectly. When the Galactica was taking a thrashing, the raptors in the asteroid field (poor Racetrack, I loved Racetrack)... just excellent scoring. Frenetic music down to just metal wrenching and groaning when the leviathan Galactica breaks her back.. powerful.

Was re-watching Islands in the stream of stars again and realised something with Daybreak.

The flash back where Adama gets absolutely smashed and pukes by the wall is so reminicent of the 'adama against the wall with white paint' that it was freaky!

It would be neat once they finish Caprica to do a small series on the Cylon War. It would be a WWII like drama, it would be neat

The "promised land" turned out not to be Earth, or the next Earth....but the cottage that Roslyn always said she wanted, the cottage that Bill himself wanted to make, and will...but Roslyn was denied her dream house.

I also realized something about the Kara/Lee flashback...Lee almost ruined her relationship with two very good people because Kara is an emotionally crippled frack-magnet. Lee never "understood" her in that regard, and if you notice, he really loses the women in his life in a similar manner to Bill, he loses his ex-wife, and he loses a person who never truely loved him in the way she loved either Zak or Sam. She chose to be the better person and rejoin her husband in the afterlife.

Roslin finished her job, I think in the sense that at the end she was too weak to "step" onto Earth herself, so she was carried there, thus keeping in tune with the dying leader who would not live to enter the promised land. And like Moses, she was buried on a hill, overlooking a plain. Moses was buried on Mt. Nibo to b exact.

Yeah I got that....but we already knew all this didnt we?!?! I dont think we needed it for the finale.

The filler flashbacks were character peices designed to show various things

-Bill won't betray his beleifs and won't take being called a liar or be taken for a fool, he stayed true to this

-Lee lets Kara (represented by the pidgeon) go at Zak's apartment, and again on our Earth

-Roslyn tells Adar she'll be there until the end, which happens. Her political career begins the rest of her life and concludes it.

It wasnt a let down. Everything had a spiritual connection, and the final revelation of the opera house, in size, scope, and just how everything came together was what the series was truley driving to.
