This is WTVJs final newscast intro as the Channel 4 News. They switched to channel 6, a much weaker signal, because of some deal NBC made with CBS. HEY, check out www.fmia.org They own this video!

  • Looks like they used WNBC's 4 logo up to the switch.

  • it was the Standard NBC 4 logo. They had a cool south florida variant up until 1994 when they changed it to make it similar to WNBC and KNBC

  • Wasn't it in late 1992 when they began using the NBC 4?

  • ON and off they used it beginning in 1992, but by 1994 they completely switched to the NBC O&O 4

  • when did NBC6 move to Miramar

  • 2000

  • I love how that intro music sounds, very 90's and their graphics were spiffy for the time.

  • Holy shit, I remember when this switch happened. :-O And that music! I'm feeling nostalgic.

  • Will and Uncle Phil are gettin' down to the news theme! LOL!

  • @WizardDuck I don't know anything about Milwaukee. I just said that because of what I read in this video's description.

  • @TVcompFrEaK You're thinking of Milwaukee, sir.

  • Somewhat deceptive report - "Only the channel is changing".

They weren't moving up to 6, they were moving DOWN to Homestead!

Fortunately, then were able to undo the geographic move with digital transition.

  • Maybe NBC should do a "Come back to us" campaign similar to the "Stay With us" campaign post hurricane andrew. hahaha. Maybe that will help with the ratings...... Or maybe they should bring back the many good people they lost .

  • so did CBS used to be channel 6? I watch 58 instead of 6 since it's clearer, but 4 is still has a better signal.

  • In the early '60s, Dead county had only four channels that I can remember: channel 2(public); 4(CBS); 7(NBC); and 10(ABC). It's still hard for me to think of WTVJ not being on channel 4. Then they began making TVs with UHF channels!
