if your doing something for convenience wasting a little drop wont really matter...and i doubt people on a regular basis will shake it like you did..i have used one and all i did was pop the cap on tip it tap it on the table and i was good to go. i didnt shake it without the cap on. and if you put the spoon in the area inside made for a bottle with the spoon part up the cap popping off isnt really an issue either. happy feedng!

I think the dripping could be an issue because its apples, something like carrots may not have such an issue.
