I have revamped this video, hopefully making it more useful as an instructional video. I took the midi file I created as the original video was shot, IMPORTED it into 'Band in a Box' as a midi file.
Using the notation and piano views, I was able to overlay these over the original video. A much better quality video is at http:web.newsguy.com/dougmck
along with along with a PDF file of the Transcription and a leadsheet and the midi file if you want to try to do this yourself!
If you have a fast connection and want to see this or other videos in high quality video to see the notes clearly(and in stereo), add the letters &fmt=18 straight after the existing internet address line above.

  • The most beautiful thing I have ever heard here on youtube ...

  • At this rate Doug will turn us all into Jazz pianists without fail ^_^. All the resources he provides makes it hard not to learn from him. 5 stars Doug

  • So nice!

  • This is just great, thank you Doug! :)

Pity sometimes the text is hidden, no big deal though. Very useful!

  • whoa you did it, live vid, notes, midi and visual midi

  • Up to 1:33 I can play. It's how you break away from the conventional is where I am struggling. If 7note or L2L see this video, I'd be interested to hear their version of this as well.
