ANCHOR: Is there Some thing fishy going on in Sweden's Great Lake? Let`s find out.
STORY: Tales of the legendary Great Lake Sea monster have been around for Centuries. And now this unexplained sighting from a computerized surveillance system generates a new interest in this old legend.

On a little stone islet in the lake called The Great Lake, five cameras are installed. Three cameras are on the islet and two are submerged in the water. One of the cameras uses thermal vision technology, and scans heat signatures and movement from interesting sightings. These sightings are transmitted to the website storsjoodjuret.nu

On this website one also find eye witness accounts of encounters with the sea monster. Some people are convinced there is a monster. And according to this website the American television network NBC is planning to document the hunt.

About 20 years ago I myself was involved in work with a 2 man submarine and attempts were made to sell tickets for underwater monster safari in this lake. This venture never left the ground. The idea of being locked up in a small sub facing a sea monster was maybe not too appealing.

After seeing this monster images I can't say I am afraid to jump in the water again.

  • that was me swimming and my penis was long, sorry

  • Ohhh shoot i just found this crazy video! search:

Dog comes from inside a bed(As shown on Today Show)

  • Do we have an idea how large this object is? Scale would be helpful in figuring it out. Could be something as simple as an eel.

  • Jag måste fan dit å filma lite fiske XD

  • fake lake monster biches

  • Huh?

Just looks like a little white worm to me

  • Ah, I did not know the water was iced over. I understand now why the picture is so distorted. This was probably filmed at night as well which does not help matters. Thanks for the info, I apologize if i came across rude. I just really want to see proof of stuff like this because i believe it could exist.

  • The depth right now are around 15-20 meters during the winter. I think they were aroudn 50 meters when the video was shot, and with other cameras than they are using now. They have mounted underwater pool lights right now to help the system give more clear images under the ice that is 0,5 meters thick right now. the lights has proven to work, but so far we've only captured fish under the ice.

  • how deep was this filmed? i read the depth was only 15 meters and that didn't seem very deep to me. i am assuming by your reply that i am misinformed about that.

  • Yes, the videoserver is capable of 720x576 pixels, but we have had a lot of problems in finding cameras that both can stand the depth that they are mounted, and at the same time give us high resolution images. The cameras above water is 5 megapixels with 12 images/second... thats HIGH res video! :-)

Feel free to tell us if you find deep water cameras for long term underwater mounting with a pricerange under 2.500$ and i'll give you better resolution!
