  • SILCA PLUGSOCKET

  • I don't think reel tapes are available for sale anymore are they? My cousin had an 8-track reel to reel recorder and we made some neat music/songs on that unit back in the mid-80's

  • wow tolle machine

  • @Suzsmokeyallan I am aware of that. But I mentioned 3600' as the most common on consumer decks that were purchased during that time. The 4800' was very thin tape and did not have as good tensile strength as the smaller footage tapes. Also studios had the capabilities of using 12" & 14" reels which gave even longer time. But these were not available on the consumer market. And they need they bigger reels to get longer recording times especially at 30 I.P.S.

  • @patrickguice Actually Ampex had some tapes that were 4800 feet so thats is a longer recording time

  • no.not Fripp...thank anyway..its new....well recorded for yt so post '05...but he recorded with the reel to reel instead of vs. protools....or cakewalk....I should have fav. one of his videos.....he played neil young and hotel califorina I think or anoth great classic song...

  • maybe....do you know his link...

    thank you for the replie

    Ray

  • Are you talking about Robert Fripp?

  • There is a guy on Youtube, I cant find him again/now, he plays the guitar and he records with reel to reel, you can see the reel to reel recording equipment in the background. Anyone know this guy's channel?
