Baby enjoying some fun "tummy time".
If you're a new parent, you will have been advised not to allow your baby to fall asleep on his/her front because of the increased risk of cot death. However, this worry has led some parents to place their babies on their backs all of the time. Some research has suggested that this can slightly delay the development of crawling and walking abilities, and can have a negative effect on the baby's confidence and independence. To avoid this, you should try to set aside a little "tummy time": a few minutes, ideally 2-3 times per day, for your baby to play on his/her stomach, supervised at all times by a responsible adult.
Your baby may cry at first, but try to make tummy time fun and stimulating by choosing times when they are wide-awake, and placing colourful toys around them to encourage them to raise their head and try to reach for the toys.
awww, cute baby :)
