"Did you ever see a robin weep when leaves begin to die...", and so began the hit recording career of B.J. Thomas with the subtle poetry of Hank Williams, Sr, a song which Rolling Stone ranks as one of the 500 Greatest of All Time. Hank wrote and recorded "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" in 1949, and it has been covered by many people since his untimely death, but none with more success than this recording by B.J. Thomas and The Triumphs which went to #8 on the pop charts in March of 1966.

  • My Dad and two uncles still play in the Triumphs and play this song monthly in and around Texas. One of the greatest gifts I've ever been given - music appreciation.

  • @fuzzypaws17 ive had a crush on u since i was 3 lol im 45 now

  • "To whom much is given. to whom is much is expected. that is B J Thomas. He is the bomb of blessings. Let him be an an example to us. God Bless him and Us, too.

  • BJT did a great job on the vocal - no question.

BUT. . . what made this version GREAT was the organ lurking in the background - it brings out the sadness of the lyrics and the beauty of the melody. Great, great song handled magnificently by BJ Thomas and the backing musicians.

  • This tune + B.J Thomas = perfection. (Einstein's theory of musictivity)
