The Supremes were on a hot streak in 1965 with one hit after another. After "Back In My Arms Again" hit the top of the charts, Motown was planning their next single. It was a toss-up between "Nothing But Heartaches" and "Mother Dear." "Mother Dear" was planned as their official next single as M1080, but it was switched out with "Nothing But Heartaches" instead. The Supremes would later perform "Mother Dear" on Dean Martin and Red Skelton's variety shows hinting at the possibility that Motown was going to release the song as a single. It was during this time that Holland-Dozier-Holland had the girls re-record the song with a more upbeat pep to it which is the version presented here. Holland-Dozier-Holland would record the song for a third time in 1966 in a completely different style than the previous two versions.

Version two really sounds like a mix between version 1 and 3
but I still prefer version 1 best even if the backing is clearer on this version
I really enjoyed seeing "new" photos of the girls; some of them I never saw before and I saw many since I fell in love with them :D
I still think 1:56 is the pic that shows Flo's cutest smile EVER
