Festival Selections:
2010 Charlie in the Heartland: International Conference
2011 Pordenone Silent Film Festival

Charlie Chaplin's famous tramp character finds himself in the 21st Century. He learns that a lot is different, but some things are still the same (like his knack for getting in sticky situations).

Chaplin Biographer David Robinson had this to say about the film:
"It is the supreme audacity to try to imitate Charles Chaplin -- particularly if you are six foot two, wear size 12 shoes, and do not share a single physical feature with the Little Tramp. Patrick McCarthy takes the chance, and gets away with it, thanks to the Chaplinesque innocence he brings to his hero, and the intriguing idea of transporting the unwitting Little Tramp through time to the world of cell-phones and on-line dating. McCarthy's ultimate test came when the film was premiered for last year's scholarly and critical International Chaplin Conference in Zanesville, Ohio. Disarmed, they cheered without reserve."

Written, directed, edited, and music composed by Patrick McCarthy (a requirement when impersonating Charlie Chaplin). However, this film would be nothing if it weren't for the actors who helped. The following is the list of actors:

Duke Fairchild
James Gavin
Scott Largen
Vince Keung
Patrick McCarthy
Nico Salinas
Jamie Smith
Lorelle Stephanski

  • Funny as all get-out! Great. grazie (GMT) giovanni

  • GREAT Job on the mannerisms. You captured little subtleties that most would miss. The only thing that could make this better is if you had a jacket with the higher buttons, buttoning them high, then leaving some unbuttoned from the bottom, and perhaps even baggier pants. I think it was the sack-suit cut of the pants back then would be hard to duplicate without specifically finding a reproduction pair, oh and bigger shoes. I think your outfit is a little too fitting and nice to be perfect.

  • LOVED IT! hard to find ppl who actually can imitate him well and you did A GREAT JOB!! was uncanny at times! :)

  • Loved it! You successfully combined my three favorite things in the world. 1) Charlie Chaplin, 2) Red Bull, 3) A pretty girl!

Serious, great job! My favorite was the gag with the guy on the cell phone, where you listen to your pocket watch!

    Totally 5 stars!

  • Terrific job - good cast - great channeling of Chaplin. Film work looked great. Look forward to seeing more from you!

  • A very beautiful tribute for Charlie Chaplin! My compliments for all players!
