I removed the pulse controller from my frequency controlled SSG, placed a snake egg on top of it and spun it up. This is the result.

  • Hey Seph,

Yes 500Hz, I got mixed up with my 3.75" 4 pole rotor which was also 5000rpm+. I will Post on group ;o)

    Regards Lee.

  • Teflon spray is supposed to work better than oil, just like in big machines

  • In tests lubricating bearings lamp oil was much better than teflon spray but in this application teflon would be safer.

    Regards Lee..

  • Nice work! These are great devices. Here in the USA, "lamp oil" is really nothing more than colored kerosene. I don't know what its flash point is but, you are atomizing it and you may have some trouble if it finds an ignition source. Just a word of caution. I love the container idea but I have no idea how you start it. Mine is on a flat plate and is stable at speed but when slowing back down....look out. Great video, 5 stars.

  • Bill,

You are correct which is why to door was wide open. I do find it tempting to find out just how explosive thismist could be! Maybe not..

    Regards Lee

  • very nice work, 5*****,

    A greetings

  • Hi Lee, I thought your tricoiler would get up to 5000 rpm? with a 6 pole rotor then that would make it 500hz, no?

I just thought that was interesting since just over 500hz is pretty much the max frequency I can achieve with mechanical as well... haven't tried the snake eggs though ^_^

  • Nice... I wonder if you went to a lighter oil like dura lube...
