It's lap five, at the top of the hill XTI Nightrider has managed to catch up to XTI Apache. Given the next turn is often taken at high speed on the inside, being 2 wide at this point is not good. Apache goes wide on the corner, giving room to Nightrider. The opportunity is not taken. Apache continues around the next corner, and trying to maintain speed around the corner ops for the outer edge. At this point, Nightrider opts to try to pass, in a no-passing zone, on the inside of a turn barely more then a car's with. The fact that the two cars are Vipers only aplifies the danger. Contact occurs running nearly the same speed, nudging Apache into a drift. To maintain running on the track, and position, Apache makes a split second descision to maintain the drift, and not risk a sudden initiation of grip by trying to pull out. The plan works, but this only allowed XTI Avenger time to close the gap......
Forza 3 hopefully fixes these "explodey" crash physics.

Ach, twas just a bump draft :P
Ive seen loads of accidents there because of contact there before, in a UKOG Clio Cup race, lap 1, I was holding up the feild with my sports tyres, the rest bunched up and about three cars back someone ran into the back of another driver, who flew right past me nearly taking my nose of, his rear end made contact with my front and he was pitched into the wall...
