Just posting this up so it can be easy to find.
The engine is a frankenstein 1.4 Diesel (1W) combined with lost-o-stuff from the 1.3 G40 ( PY ). Timing (belts, poelies), enginemount, tubing: all Polo 2 G40 parts. Got some stuff from the Volkswagen museum, since there no longer available through the normall dealerships: Intercooler-wind-scoop-thingy, Charger to intercooler tubing, that sort of things.
Did modify the injectors, glowplugs, fuel lines to, so it runs perfectly on 100% veggie: running 245 bar opening pressure, with electrically/coolant heated fuel. For the wintertime I've installeds a warmup plug from DeFa to pre-heat the coolant/block
The body is 1982 steilheck ( steeprear??) with a heavily modified front: There where only about 2500 G40's ever made in the 'Polo 2' body, so not really that common. Panelwork behind and below front bumper is modified, not replaced, to fit the intercooler , tubing, G-charger, different rad-support etc etc.
Though things have till now all been done by 'amateurs', I'm now thinking to have it on a rolling road: there's more torque in there; when I open the 'smoke-stop' it goes even better then current, but the idle rev goes up aswell. Have to mod governer, but don't know where to start. To do about anything on the pump, I have to remove it completely since there's to little space to work.
diesel is boring :(

When u increase pump fuelling idle speed goes up, u just adjust tickover/ throttle stop and lower it.
For good power the fuel screw wants to be about 1 turn in.

Yep,. this year ( 2008 ) in Odense, Denmark.
Did fix the oil-temperature problem, but haven't worked on the engine that much; Will have it 'tuned' on a 'rolling road' at a Diesel specialist this winter ( I hope ).
I drive the car on a semi-regular basis, and no problems to report *yet*. Got a 68mm 'lade-rad' ( charger pully ) laying around to boost the engine a bit more, but I'm kinda nervous to break things while it's running so well like it is now.
