Dude the sloth bear at the stl zoo does this, while he walks in circles around a rock. I literally went there for a fieldtrip at like 8 in the morning, and saw him, came back at 1 30, and he was still doing this around the same rock lol

i went there twice and it was still doing that same thing...weird

@guardown If you see the other videos of this bear it's perfectly fine lol. I live there and it has a great enclosure from the couple times my class has went to the zoo.
For all you know it could have some mental problems or bad history that caused this.

This is not funny its sad
-
rofl i wish all bears did this

looks like a tuft of fur missing from his rear end. bird and dogs do this to themselves when they are abused or mentally unstable. Neglected dogs and parrots often rip out their own fur or feathers.

hes doing this bcuz he was obviosly rescued from horrible ppl that did bear dancing. which is when a person sticks a hook and rope up a bears nuzzle, then makes him stand on his hind legs and act like a string puppet.
Abnormal Repetitive Behavior. It's not funny, it's going insane from captivity.

This is out of frustration. They don't sway like this in their natural habitat.
"One likely cause of these abnormal behaviours is the lack of appropriate normal stimuli which contributes to boredom and the lack of exercise (inactivity). It has been suggested that stereotypic movements may also develop as escape attempts that cannot be carried out completely because of the inadequate space in their environment." -from a webpage about stereotypical movements of animals in captivity.
