Justin Timberlake is going from LoveSounds to The Love Guru.

The former Mouseketeer's movie career continues to take off as he joins Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Verne Troyer for a comedy.

The film, Myers' first original creation since the groovy days of Austin Powers, follows an orphaned American boy who is raised in an Indian ashram by a group of gurus. As an adult, he moves back to the U.S. to seek out fame and fortune by becoming a self-help guru and is quickly enlisted to patch up the differences between a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player and his wife.

Timberlake has signed on to play Los Angeles Kings hockey star Jacques Grande, who begins dating his rival skater's estranged wife out of revenge. The hookup sends the Leafs' player into a professional funk, much to the chagrin of his team's Stanley Cup-seeking owner, played by Alba, and coach, played by Troyer.

Production kicks off in Myers' native Toronto in September, shortly after Timberlake wraps up his worldwide tour in support of FutureSex/LoveSounds.

The Love Guru turn will mark the second time the Grammy-winning, Emmy-nominated Timberlake will team with Myers for the big screen: They recently lent their voices to the summer juggernaut Shrek the Third. The film also reunites Myers with Troyer, his own personal Mini-Me.

Timberlake's other credits include Alpha Dog, the straight-to-DVD Edison and Richard Kelly's dark comedy Southland Tales, opening Nov. 9.

However, his TV work has generated better reviews. Last year's hosting gig on Saturday Night Live resulted in an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for his YouTube sensation collaboration with Andy Samberg, "Dick in a Box."

In the meantime, Timberlake is also up for more hardware, including a leading seven nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards, the Las Vegas-bound show in which he is also set to perform—solo. His rep has already shot down the wishful-thinking rumors that he will team up with Madonna for the show.

Before then, he's also set to appear at this weekend's Teen Choice Awards, where he will be gifted, via satellite, with the extra special Ultimate Choice Award for his perpetual domination of all things cool in movies, TV and music.
