This video is from our new set called "No-Gi Evolution" which covers more than 7 hours of similar content focusing on no-gi submission grappling instead of BJJ or MMA.

This is a takedown for no-gi submission grappling where you drop under your opponent and pull his weight over you. It is very similar to the shoulder throw but requires far less strength since you don't actually have to lift your opponent.

  • I'm not one of those people that just go around watching videos to talk crap about people but as a Judoka, there are some flaws in your technique but the most important is the placement of the arm going under the armpit. THE OPPONENTS ARM SHOULD NOT GO ON YOUR SHOULDER...THAT WILL GET YOU CHOKED. you need to put their armpit between your bicept. Also, when doing DROP SEOI NAGE, YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE DEAD TOES. ALLWWAYYSS keep them curled for explosion or incase you need to get back up

  • @HardymarkTheKid While I appreciate your input, I'm going to offer that I feel you are a very low risk of being choked here provided that you get under and "though" your opponents base. Assuming that this is one fluid motion- there should really be a minimal risk of choke. Biggest counter that I've seen is that I'll lose the arm all together and end up in turtle. So long as I continue rotating I can generally pull guard effectively off that setup.

  • @TechniquePrevails ah..well idk..no gi isn't something I have much experience in but even with no gi, i see people get choked because of all the things I mentioned before. Arm on the shoulder and dead toes. You're probably losing the arm (excluding the factor of sweat) BECAUSE the arm is on the shoulder. If you put the armpit between your bicep and flex, you won't lose that arm. Also, using the toes for explosion makes the technique VERY powerful. Look up seoi nage montages on youtube and see.

  • @HardymarkTheKid Fair enough, sir. I appreciate your input.

Thanks for watching and please check out the site.

  • I thought u weren't supposed to use your elbow not your shoulder when doing a seo nage. I know I'm right with the gui in Judo with an ipon seo nage, but in no gui with a drop seo nage, I'm not sure, I'm prittty sure the same rule applies but I could be wrong. Maybe yours is more modern since Judo is traditional.

  • @Juijitsu9 I've found that without the gi I generally lose the arm if I don't get all the way into his armpit with my shoulder. If you can secure the arm without it- then definitely stick with what works!

Thanks for watching- and please check out the site!

  • Nice, just be careful with your knees. Too many reps can cause long tern injuries from hitting them too many times too hard on the mat.

  • Thnx gonna try it tuesday

  • nice guys thanks.

  • @TechniquePrevails no doubt..keep up the great work. Your videos have been helping alot of my judo !

  • @Tappedurassout Instead of thinking "up" you need to think more of breaking their posture.

It's definitely something you have to drill repeatedly. You'll get it.
