Well sorry, that's how they came out in '61. I'd be more concerned at the side pipes and the wheel arches from hell.

@johnlaurauk You have no idea what you're talking about, friend. He found this car stored in a shed, frame rotted, engine gone, interior in shreds. Most people would have junked what remained. Instead, he had a race-car shop build a new frame, with Corvette front suspension, and dropped in the small-block Ford. The SP250 was hardly a beautiful car to begin. Notorious for poor build quality and engine failure. If not for fiberglass bodies, they'd all have been rusted away by now.

How is any engine over 300 ci a small block? 300 ci is about 4.9 litres, which is pretty big. Now, the original 2.5L, or a Rover 3.5 or 3.9 could be considered small block, but anything over 4L is not a small block.

"Small block" refers not to displacement, per se, but to the design itself. The Chevy "small-block" was made in displacements from 262 cu in to 400 cu in. The blocks were all the same outside. Ford "small-blocks" were made from 221 to 400 cu. in. Mopars from 273 to 360. There's no "official" definition, just common usage.
