I don't get why they put -2 on the thumb thingy. Since it is true, if people look at how many different styles of Buddhism, or Abrahamic religons there are in so many different continents. I mean, each pre-xtian religon had its own way of worshipping, so they had to adopt a new one in the similar fashion.
I have learned, because the spirit did contact me a year and a half ago, when I was already practicing different 'Pagan' religons (it feels like we are having a debate!). I'm just a very multicultural, open minded, religous person; so I try and do my best. But, sometimes other people's ways don't work for me - with almost anything. So, I can't go out and do much because of punishment and restrictions, so, what I do is my way and my best.
That is why Vodou is primarily a secret path due to possible persecution, etc. Much of the faith cannot really be found in books, the internet, or common resources. Attempting a Vodou ritual on your own without the guidance of Vodou Houngan or Mambo is probably not the best idea. I hope you find a reliable source to teach you the path. As I said previously, if the spirits want you, they will find you, and you will learn.
I do learn about my relgion, and I have been for over three years now. Everybody has thier own way of connecting with the spirits, and mine is just for me. I call upon the god/desses in thier own ritual forms, and on the days they ask to be.
I have never read Silver Ravenwolf (don't even know much about her).
I can't meet or learn from any mambo/hougan because my books would be burned and I would be dragged off to worship a god I don't follow.
I have to rely on myself, and books, and internet to research and learn about voodoo, I can't find a mambo/hougan because I'm not allowed to believe in any other relgion than Christianity. My books would be burn't for one thing, and I would be dragged off to a church to worship a god I don't know, and don't want to worship. So, this is my way of connecting with the Divine.
I'm not teahching my ways to anybody else, and I call upon them in thier respected ritual forms.
