During the Pitt in Tanzania 2009 program, a variety of important public health issues were addressed through the eleven student research projects. One project, conducted by JJ Krais, consisted of working on the medical equipment at the Nyakahanga Hospital. In the video, he demonstrates to one of the hospital employees, Vivian, how he fixed a blood pressure machine and practices using the machine on a fellow student, Allie Lombardi. ur method of measuring blood pressure is incorrect. the arm should always be in a rested position, laying on a platform or cushion. leaving the arm in a free position causes inaccurate measurement.
