as a cushioning technology would make some sense, but on track the spring would barely make contact with the ground if you understand how an athletes foot strike differs from a casual runner for example.

Nike did this exact thing as an in house development project a long time ago.... they realized the spring could not be made strong enough without making the whole shoe very stiff. Which would suck. So they then invented the shox as a progression of the idea. Which do suck for performance. Notice how everyone is going minimal these days?
Better get back to the drawing board... or in today's lingo. back to the wacom.
