Well, you can be one card out. Ie: the chosen card can be the next one after the last letter called or it can be found on the last letter named.

Go to school and learn to read and write. Alternatively do a different trick. Perhaps one that does not use letters or numbers maybe.

You guys shouldn't be doing tricks if you aren't bright enough to figure out the spelling. If it is a name that may have alternate spellings, be clever. Say something like, "So is that Danny or Dani (with you spelling out the two versions)," or "Could you spell that for me?" If they ask why, tell them something stupid like "I need to know if I am going to project the card you choose to the correct spot in the deck." Or you can ask them to pick a number, say 1-5, a color, their initials, etc.

@MrStuckyJ u could also just ask them to right there name on a blank card or a peace of paper and then you can see how many letters there are ! xDD thats how i did when i did the trick on some Russian guy x)
