In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message.

  • I've never been a Beatles/Lennon fan before, but now I realize how John L. was so true to his ideals, I couldn't agree more with what he says and it's so unpretentious unlike all those new pop artists who think they are making a change by donating money to greenpeace

  • The ideals that John promotes here are eternal. How come nothing similar is promoted by musicians today? Are we all just consumers, one big zombie voting machine? I guess it was great time to be young at 69.

    wrong. goo goo ga joob.

  • Cuckoo-Kachoo!

  • "You guys are going to be the establishment in a few years..."

And those who were young in 1969 ARE the establishment today. If it was a better time to be young in 1969 than it is now, maybe we should ask what happened to those who were young then and decided to let it become what it is today anyway?

  • The Walrus was Paul...

  • Absolutely! What an amazing gift! 38 years later? Wow...I suppose you never know how some things will end up being used and how they'll end up being spread and making a difference in the world...I think John would have been proud...I think he would have been blown away...but I really think he would hope it'd make a difference...and I do too. I will be sharing this for sure...amazing.
