It should be a win, right? I mean, aren't Nutnfancy and Sig two peas in a pod. Not always...just like with this gun. Remember the new Sig P290 is going after the concealed carry POU. That means it has some outstanding competition like the KelTec PF-9 that weighs 12.7 ounces and is only .88 inches thick. And it's accurate, reliable, and durable (so far!). So how does the much heralded Sig P290 blow it? Thickness and weight: 1.1 inches and 21 ounces... almost 8 ounces heavier than the standard-setting Kel-Tec PF-9. The Sig P290 is about the same size and weight as a Glock 26 (slightly thinner). In the CCW/CCP role, I say that weight and thinness are critical. For long existing designs like the PPK and such, I give some allowances for these. But with today's technology and winning designs I'm a little puzzled how Sig missed so widely on the P290. Make it .80 thick and 13 ounces and I'm interested, especially if it delivers the usual Sig accuracy and reliability. Also keep in mind this is an expensive gun as well. With all that in mind, as a concealed lethal option the Sig P290 does not interest me and fails to unseat more excellent polymer designs.////////////////// Preliminary Likability Scale: 5 out of 10 (high cost considered)

  • despite what some sources say the kel tec pf9 will weigh in at 14 ounces with an empty magazine not 12

  • @Solidgun i just believe the p290 is a better gun than the lc9 period having handled them both in stores and knowing sigs reputation it has tighter fitting parts and is smaller i'll take the minimal weight difference

  • @tubevideoguy762 Where does it stop? This is only so much heavier/lighter than this....

People that have carried equipment all day understand and care about weight. It is very small amount, but when there are better alternatives, it is a disadvantage.

  • @asig4me Whenever I read comments like this, I know that this person has not hauled equipment for extended period of time. I understand that this is a subcompact gun, but there is a reason for wanting ounces off of equipment when you have to worry about the other 80 pounds\

  • when he's holding it you clearly see it's not much thicker than his trigger finger that is NOT thick and 20 ounces HEAVY 1 1/4 lbs really? that's lighter than a subcompact g26 and only 3 ounces more than the ruger lc9

  • Gun shoots like a dream. But i am not exactly fond of the heavy recoil. I like the slimness of the gun for carrying. Great gun nevertheless.

  • I am a big subcompact fan and im really considering this fine piece of art. The extra weight will jusg make this gun more easier to shoot.

  • Swing..... and a miss!

  • If it's too heavy for you spend some time in the gym and get a stronger strap for your purse "Dude".

  • i'd carry a p290 just for looks tbh. i'd carry a 40 ounce 686 for manliness if open carry was less frowned upon. i think the design of the slide(like glocks) makes it look thicker than it is. its better to carry a gun thats you like than one thats smaller lighter and you dont like it(usually cus you suck at shooting it)
