With a FCD (FUEL CUT DEFENDER) connected up to the MAP sensor, this clip shows how the MAP sensor output voltage is clamped by the FCD and will not go rise higher than 4.2volts. The voltage clamping point is fully adjustable by turning the screw on the FCD. So it needs to be adjusted to clamp just under the voltage where the ECU would normally shut down.

  • so i can use this on a car that came non boosted and use on my car that will be boosted to hide boost from the engine computer?

  • @censucks Yes you can, but in this situation the ignition timing will then be too advanced for boost. You would only get away with running a few PSI, unless you aso have a way of retarding the ignition timing as the boost rises. The "MSD boost timing master" is designed to do this.

  • There is various names for them, FCD, Fuel cut defender, Fuel Cut Defencer, Boost cut lifter, Boost cut raiser, MAP Clamp.

  • thanks thought it was named a boostcut defender... and a fuelcut defender would only stop the ecu from removing fuel so it wont go lean.
