Seems like you are not so different from the bomber?

  • why does everyone blame scotland...we took the right decision...do you americans think revenge is gained from someone rotting in jail cell as he wouldn't serve the full sentence anyway...we do regret the welcome Megrahi got with the saltaire but we stand by our decision and i stand as proud scot

  • @goombabear Why shouldn't we be proud we have compassion for human life and although the likelihood that Megrahi is guilty we cannot obstruct someone's right to treatment and also there is a lack of evidence that he did carry out the bombing so I would agree with you that yes Scotland fucked up but human life is a precious thing which is why we have compassionate release as a part of Scots law

  • Compassion is for the victim's friends and families, not for the one who killed them all. You reap what you sow. If one does not want to be put in jail, then don't commit crimes. If you don't punish crimes, then there is no deterrent. I would not be proud of you feckin' country. You are standing with the enemy, not with the innocent.

  • The Scots are a lovely people, but this whole Lockerbie affair was a major cockup, from the early forensics and investigation, to trial, sentence and finally early release of Megrahi. Libya's former justice minister has stated that Gaddafi did in fact give the order to Megrahi to bomb Pan Am 103

If it is ever proven that Megrahi.was actually innocent, Scotland has the unsolved murder of 270 innocents back on their hands, hopefully the culprits will serve more than 2 weeks per victim in prison

  • Compassion as with respect needs to be earned by your actions, or in this case, inaction's, ie not murdering 270 human beings. If ever Life in Prison should mean exactly that, LIFE, it is for the deliberate, preplanned cold blooded execution of hundreds of innocent people.

It is bad enough that murdering 270 people today only gets you 27 years, but to be released after only 8 years (less than 2 weeks per victim) for ANY reason, is like taking a big giant shit on the memories of the victims.

  • The Americans should have gone into Libya and dismantled Gaddafi's murderous regime once they knew Libya was responsible for blowing up Pan Am 103. They needed the same hard action that they took against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq after 3000 people died in the 9/11 attacks. In fact if they had done something, 9/11 might not have happened. They had a chance to deal hard with terrorism but didn't.

  • Megrahi was innocent, a scapegoat.

  • I can understand where you are coming from but I disagree. Saying that we stand by our decision? With respect, I do not agree with the decision. I understand why you think him rotting in a jail cell is not the answer. However, I think releasing him on 'compassionate grounds' is not an answer either. Did he show any compassion to those that he killed? I agree with your response that Scotland should not be blamed. The Justice Minister made the decision not the Scottish people.

  • @DAGDAsRevenge well to start with, lockerbie is a town, not a city. to furthur that, a nuclear bomb would be totally wasted in the middle of the country in scotland, only an idiot would do that, and lastly, the fact that the plane crashed in lockerbie was an accident, it was due to go off over the sea but the plane was late. therefore, your argument is screwed.

  • The man was sentenced to life in prison. Not hard to understand is it?

How would you feel if Fred and Rosemary West or the Moors Murderers had been let out early?
