@mephistophelico This was at the MET, one of the largest opera houses in the world. The only microphones were the ones around the stage for the benefit of the TV cameras -- not for amplification.

I don't understand, she doesn't use a microphone. There is no microphone. How could her voice be so clear, powerfule, amazing, without a microphone? If she is singing without a microphone, I probably think the theatre she was singing in was very small.
