Explains natural selection in simple terms. A must for anyone who is confused by the Theory of Evolution, and wonders why it's taught in classrooms. This video is part of the 'Made Easy' series that explains the history of our world, from the Big Bang to the human migration out of Africa.

@Xjak false. the majority of christians believe in micro evolution, just not macro. The concept of natural selection and adaptation is commonly accepted by christians, they just don't believe that this phenomenon comes from nowhere. They believe a divine God made this possible.
The theory of evolution is almost completely contradictory to the Bible! Evolution states that humans came from God while Evolution states that they evolved from predecessors.
No thanks . any printed word that makes claims that require faith instead of evidence deals with the supernatural and not true knowledge. people have problems with evolution because it takes something away and gives nothing else in return but reality.
This is true to some degree. Yes, beneficial mutations are uncommon; however, given a long enough stretch of time the accumulation of genetic changes and variations will produce outcomes very different to the original organism.
Exposure to different environmental factors can also change species over time, such as food consumption or long term ultra-violet exposure.
The article on Speciation, Wikipedia, explains things in far more detail and I would recommend reading it if you have time.
Uncommon is an understatement. It almost non existent. And surely not common enough to go from single celled organisms to the variety of life today. Speciation also comes from genetic material already present in the genome. So I believe that we are in agreement in that we believe there are mutations that can be beneficial we are not in agreement however in how likely it is to be the cause of life as we know it. I enjoy the conversation though.
You are correct in saying that beneficial mutations are very rare; however, beneficial mutations are not a primary component in Evolution, just one of many factors.
When you say genetic material, remember that genetic information is a code constructed from proteins. A simple rearrangement of the code can produce dramatic changes. Genes are susceptible to natural and now artificial stimuli, commonplace in agriculture and horticulture.
Finally, I must add that Evolution isn't the cause of life.

You my friend are wrong
- your stupidity is refuted by nylon ingesting bacteria. nylon is manmade and the ability to ingest it was not already there
