The AV-8B, has good systems etc, the only real problem is the range, It guzzles down fuel hence has very short endurance; other than that it is excellent.
I miss the sound of aircraft over head now that we are retired from the Corp ! Nothing like waking up to smelling jet fuel from base housing early in the morning. Who would of thought I would of missed it so much!
i was on board that beast for many harrier launch and recovery ops... turning them up before the launch is a rush and is somethin i miss... parking them under nvg's is fun too...
I prefer the British Harriers too. Until recently the variant AV-8B Harrier was the most unreliable aircraft the US Navy had, but it has become a very relible aircraft with changes being made to it.
the deck is about the same but we don't like to use the ramp because we like the extra room that we get from it. england uses a diffrent type of harrier it can go faster but usa can carry heavier loads
Bataan is actually located in the philippines....
