Ofcourse the stay sucked.
Look around your house, you see trees, tall buildings and hills.
Wind, shitty weather and cold that hasn't even been slightly dampened flow smoothly through Icelandic nature.
You know the mossy rock that was the only thing you could see for miles in all directions. Shit weather is the only thing a man with a healthy mind can expect.
But ofcourse you don't have healthy minds and this is the internet.
Now come back in summer and stop being stereotypical americans.

@nugjoh14 haha yes, long live the marines. That platoon was actually decommissioned before the station was shut down. I think around 2002 or something. Not quite sure though.

Armpit of the world-Stationed there 1958-59 w/US Army. Miserable country - miserable people. Worst tour of my 21 year career.

During those years yes, Iceland was probably a hell hole for many people that came from large American cities or towns that had everything to offer. It was a very simple country and just recently recovering from the depression. Iceland now is a compleatly different country. You should visit sometimes. Dont worry about the volcano, it has stopped and never posed any danger to the people.
