This fantastic film of Joe Meek's story, was partly spoilt by the use of Duffy's specially recorded version of Please Stay for the closing credits when it really and truly should have been this Joe Meek produced version of Please Stay by The Cryin' Shames. I can only presume that apart from trying to appeal to the younger generation by using Duffy, there was much needed money exchanging hands from a record company?

I have now righted this injustice and remade the ending credits with the version that should be there.......!!!

The track following Please Stay is as per the soundtrack the brilliant Crawdaddy Simone by the Syndicats.

  • Thank you so much, they should never have used anything else. Spoilt the film for me. Esp as I have the crying shames on a mp3 could have sent it to them, if they didn't have it..Thanks for putting it right.

    Best wishes

  • @garryc158 thanks I am glad you agree, They got it wrong using Duffy.

  • I thought her version was pretty good; better than Westlife's and the B'cty-rollers version, I thought Nobody Waved Good by would have been a better track although both are great... I guess they were looking to have a no.1 with the soundtrack and with an artist of the day etc... as you say... greater appeal

  • @FP51DPO Yep, Nobody Waved Goodbye would have been good, quite apt. Cheers.

  • @pinksax Whys that?

  • Thank the tossers at the Joe Meek appreciation Society.

  • @inshreds66 the Duffy version meant well, but i reckon it should have been the cryin' shames version. Either of 'please stay' or 'nobody waved goodbye' would've been great for the ending
