okay. this guy isn't great. for students who plan on following what he says you probably won't get awesome marks. instead of saying "I strongly believe" and etc just say your point of view without the "I think that" bullshit. it makes your point stronger as well because it seems like you are stating a fact.

The so-called good sentence patterns are AWFUL. Check any dictionary or google news search and you will know that adding "in" in front of a "that-clause" after "confidence" is NOT proper english. "In" is only used after "confidence" when it is followed by a noun (but not a "that-clause"). Alan Chan, which university did you graduate from?

Disappointed to hear that Alan's pronunciations of "Argumentative" and "Expository" are WRONG. Can't expect his lectures to be helpful.

梁振英都成日講「我堅信」, 唔通又增強咗說服力? 今日資訊好易搵, 大家可以 google 一下 "i would like to stress my firm conviction" , 一搵就知堅定流, 英語世界邊有人咁講野。換著你係考官, 眼見十幾歲靚仔開口埋口「我堅信」, 可能忍唔住笑. 面對幾百個學生千篇一律, 就未必笑得出了. 修辭當然緊要, 但「我堅信」睇經濟學人本 style guide好過睇你. 去google search "economist style guide" 就有, 留意 tone 和 unnecessary words, 大概就係講呢位阿 sir 既毛病.

"expository" and "argumentative" 都讀錯, 哎! 又教埋d古怪phrase "stress my firm conviction" 就話加強說服力, 哎!
