It's just so sad that he couldn't be nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. He deserved it. Yeah, I know, it is fair that he couldn't because his character was CGI, but it's still a great performance that he's given that deserves the recognition.

It's so weird- Andy's so gentlemanly and well spoken in real life, and you look at Gollum and Caesar and King Kong, and all ou think is "BEST ACTOR EVER!"

@kapsi I wouldn't say he's a "poor"guy, he commands huge salaries for his performances these days, seven figures for the Apes follow-up apparently.

Because, with the mask, it's easier to "erase" him from the scene and replace him with the CGI model of Gollum. Without the mask, his hair would be A HELL to "erase" (with all the strands sticking out). This is also why his outfit is white; it's easier to spot the edges against the generally dark backdrop.
