you should reapply your sunscreen during the day, but then you already have your moisturizer on, is it still okay to apply the sunscree over it?

Thank you so much Dr Schultz for this advice, all this time i have been applying my sunscreen as the last product and i didnt see any improvements on my freckles. In fact it got worst. Ever since i started putting the sunscreen first, i notice my freckles are not darkening like it used to. Thanks a lot!

Dr. Shultz, I'm using hydroquinone-based products to correct a hyperpigmentation issue. Should I still apply sunscreen first?

i was introduced to color science products. are they worthy sunscreen products? they are a powder mineral sunscreen product.
Hi Dr. Schultz. Thanks for all the advise.
I used to use the products in this order: first cleanser, then toner, then moisturizer and last sunscreen. So that is wrong I understand. But what is the correct order?

@xjawanidiwanix Your cleanser and toner prepare your skin for your active ingredients. Thus, use your cleanser and toner first. Then apply sunscreen before anything else.

Should you apply sunscreen before you apply chemical exfoliants or retinols as well?
luckyclover012 2 years ago
@luckyclover012 Yes. However, if you're concerned, then just apply your exfoliants at night when you're not apply sunscreen. One last thing to note: most exfoliants are not compatible with retinoids.

Dr. Schultz, What about a moisturizer that has SPF in it? Is it just as effective as using sunscreen alone?
Mahigak 2 years ago
@Mahigak: This is a very important question. A moisturizer with a specific SPF value delivers that exact SPF even though it is mixed with a moisturizer because in order to claim that SPF value it had to be tested exactly in the form it is sold (as a moisturizer) and in that form demonstrate that exact SPF. Bottom line: any product with a stated SPF delivers that SPF regardless of other bells and whistles.
