  • Hey, here in the UK we have some manufacturers telling us not to touch the decoder board or it may short out, however, you were picking it up with your hands without a care. Can you please tell me if it is neccessary to avoid touching the decoder, or even use an anti-static kit?

I'm installing some NCE DA-SR's but want to install Tsunami so thanks for the helpful hand.

  • Hi and greetings from the U.S. I have also heard the same thing, but I personally havnt had any trouble with static and ruining the decoders. Unless your rubbing balloons on you hair while scuffing your wool socks on tall carpet near a working toaster, I would say your probably fine. haha :) I can't hurt to take extra safety measures though If they're available. Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks, is is helpful since im going to be instauling lights myself

  • Great video! Thanks for the information!

  • what kind of led's do you use and where did you get them? pre-wired?

  • could you do a video of this with the ditch lights in n scale with a MRC sound decoder ?

  • I'm actually starting a CN C44-9WL project with an Athearn Dash 9. What is the part number of the micro LED's? By the way, do you use headlight and ditchlight lenses?

  • I asked and you delivered I cant tell you how valuable this series was to me I think I will benefit from these tutorials only thing is you made it look so easy I am sure after I try it myself it will become easier for me but I think I am ready to try it. Thanks now to order the decoders and get going I want to start with a GP9 and GP35 set I just painted if I hit a bump I will send you a message yelling for help :D Thanks Again Steve

  • Nice series. Only things I would add is to make sure everyone knows how fragile those micro-LEDs' wires are. They are very easy to break. If you break them, you have to be careful as they are very hard to re-solder to the LED itself, and if you break a wire it is impossible to know which is the negative and which is common without testing. Also, I shrink-wrap tube the soldered connections.

  • Great series. Why did you not shorten the wires? I've found that it's 1. easier to get the shell off and 2. the loco runs better if you shorten the wires as short as possible to fit the loco. Cause if you don't you got all these wires coiled up in there taking up room and putting pressure on the motor, making it run bad.
